KIPP DC Charter High School Campus

A LEED® BD+C certified sustainable campus

The KIPP:DC Charter High School is an embodiment of the charter school’s mission to offer enrollment to interested students, regardless of socioeconomic background. Rigorous in academics and athletics, the school provides children with resources and academic training to eventually achieve a college education. The project is the first implementation to activate Union Market, which will be developed as a mixed-use community within the NOMA district over the next ten years. The project provides a gathering plaza, playing fields, and a viewing amphitheater, as well as a rain garden to manage the site’s stormwater runoff and achieve stormwater credits from the District. The project is seeking LEED certification, and meets all of the stringent stormwater and green area ratio requirements of the District of Columbia. Laura Stedenfeld worked as Landscape Architect & Project Manager on this project while at Land Collective.
