Pocket Park

Downtown Allentown’s newest neighborhood park

The Pocket Park is a central gathering space that is an anchor of the arts-infused linear ArtsWalk. The design fits within the vocabulary of the proposed Hamilton Connector, and becomes an important destination to link the east-west and north-south circulation onto the ArtsWalk. The dynamic design leverages the drastic grade change across the site to introduce seating and a central social space. An open lawn is to be used for yoga classes, picnicking, and gathering during outdoor movie events. The space is activated by a jet fountain at its center, and a series of wood-top furniture embraces the interior of the park. The Pocket Park will be constructed in tandem with the Hamilton Connector project in spring of 2019.
