Framing unparalleled views of the NYC skyline

This terrace on a residential penthouse is framed by the best of Manhattan’s views to central Park, the East River, and the Hudson River. A glass parapet at the courtyard edge visually expands the panorama, while a perimeter of custom metal planters ground the space with native shrubs and perennials. By cladding an unattractive brick parapet, a pre-grown green wall with sculptural metal elements activates the space. A red 3form resin wall wraps the interior façade, integrating lighting for outdoor parties and events. The details complement renovations in the interior that were designed by interior architects Ashe Leandro. This project was created as part of a collaborative team at Thomas Balsley Associates, with Laura Stedenfeld as Project Manager. All images were taken by Laura Stedenfeld.
